Susan Cho, owner of ANNABELES and maitre d’ has been in the business of memorable St Heliers dinning for 11 years. During this time I have not been on holiday she remarked. “Annabelles is my baby, and like all children needs my daily care and attention,” she said.
Susan is extremely proud of what she has achieved. She loves the newly renovated Annabelles’ kitchen and the fact that her spotless restaurant continues to win awards on all fronts including the fact that Annabelles is registerd for training send assessment of Unit Standards by the Hospitality Standard Institute.
Susan, who is proud of the fact that many of her customers have become her friends, is assisted in the daily running of the restaurant by award winning head chef Solomon Shad. Solomon has been passionate about food since he was a youngster and recalls baking his first cake complete with a spoon inside. Solomon believes that when a client enters a restaurant something of a journey/relationship between chef and diner should being.
Solomon, who enjoys keeping abreast in new developments in cooking and nutrition, is meticulous about food at Annabelles as well as the quality of service. Some of his favourite dishes are the Lamb Salad ( Char grilled back strap loins, with mint dressing olives and feta cheese) and prime Eye Fillet with Porta Bella mushrooms on Agria Mash and Port Wine Jus topped with béarnaise sauce, and served with green beans. He also recommends the Veal Escallops in Marsala Wine served with mashed potato and assorted vegetables.
Both Susan and Solomon recommend that diners try the Venison on the menu, and that they come back for the seafood again and again especially for their succulent Crayfish and bluff Oysters.
The desserts (if you have room) are ever so decadent, and don’t forget those perfect cups of coffee. And prices at Annabelles have remained the same with increases in costs of ingredients simply being absorbed.
So far a restaurant experience that is simply the best with views the die for hurry on down to Annabelles across the road from the St Heliers Beach.
